Water-Water-Everywhere

At the park in downtown they have a hotel that has a water play area. Austin had a blast cooling off in the water after walking in the heat looking for the mice. This was a really cool thing for the kids to do. After this we headed for a soda and to relax in the A/C at Quizno's. This evening we were invited over to a friends to swim and have ice cream. Gotta love summer time. It has been fun finding cheap, inexpensive things to occupy us this summer. Since gas is creeping higher and higher. If you look hard enough there is a lot to do. I am loving the challenge.

Mice on Main Street

This morning we were off to Greenville,SC to Main Street. They have a scavenger hunt looking for mice they have placed in about a 9 block area. We had fun trying to find them. Then we were off to the park. Also in downtown. Even Gram Gram was getting into finding them. We found all but one. Listed as the hardest one to see. We'll have to go back sometime and try to find that one.

Not Feeling So Well-Need Soda & Saltines

I know the photo is a little blurry, the ride was fixing to start and I was in a hurry. This is the Round Up, Austin and his friend Maggie in the back ground. The guy let this ride run for a while, and Austin was about done riding when he got off. I remember this ride plainly from when I was his age. And it is not a good feeling when your about to loose it when you get off. We headed to wendy's and got him a soda and saltines after the ride. he managed to keep it down, but vowed NEVER to ride this one again. lol

Fun-Friends-and Rides

We went to the little ride park this evening. There were a lot of Austin's friends from school there. Austin had fun seeing everyone and riding rides with them. The pictures are not that great since my camera does not take good pictures at dusk. But as Austin always says "We need pictures for the blog". He thinks it is so cool for friends and family that we do not see often, to be able to see what we are up too.

Don't Kill It????

While working on taking the shack down they found this spider under a floor. It was at least four inches across. And had a huge sac of babies under it. They didn't want to kill it, so they turned it loose in the woods. It was by far the largest spider I have ever seen!

Helping Hand

Austin spent some time over at a friends house loading material on a trailer and taking it to the dump. He loves to help and hard work doesn't seem to bother him. He was black from the chimney soot when we left. He had to scrub to get it off. And was proud of the hard work he had accomplished. I hope his work ethic continues.

WALL-E

We decided to go see Wall-E with some friends early today to beat the crowds. It was an interesting and odd movie all in the same. But the kids really enjoyed it. After the movie we all went for pizza. Then back home to head to the pool. Got in about 45 minutes of swimming before the thunder arose from the north. Back home to retreat from the storm. Austin and his dad went searching for wildlife and I stayed home to fold clothes. Always a need for that at our house.

Just the Good Ole Boys

We were on our way to Spartanburg today and a car hauler was passing us with the "General Lee" on it. That was cool. We are dukes fans. Austin loves watching the old movies. And of course Jason and I do also.

6.26.2008

Love'n Summer

Today we spent 3 hours at the golf clinic. Then home to relax in the A/C. It was a hot one. No swimming today. The thunder in the distance kept us at home. Off to bible school this evening. That was a blast. Water balloons and a slip'n'slide. I took this picture a few days ago. Trying to use natural lighting. It turned out great. love the smile. As we don't always get that. Till tomorrow.....

Copy Cat

Today was a perfect copy of yesterday. So I didn't take any photos. Austin was up early ready to practice golfing again. He is learning a lot from the coaches. And they said his swing is improving. Then we were off to the pool for a few hours. And of course bible school. Dad picked him up and I went for a girls night out to the movies. Seen Made of Honor. It was a chick flick. Perfect for girls night out. Thanks for looking....

Hangin Pool Side

After golfing we headed to the pool for a few hours. A lot of our friends were there trying to beat the heat. Austin was having fun playing football and checking out his friends underwater skateboard. After the pool he was off to bible school at a friends church. Then over to a friends for ice cream and cartoons. This has been a busy summer so far.

Tuesday Golf Clinic

Up bright and early for the golf clinic. Today was a two hour lesson on rules, history, and etiquette. Then off to a little putting at the end. Austin is learning a lot. And really seems to enjoy it. Odd he does surprise me at times. Glad he has found something new to interest him.

6.22.2008

Motocross Sunday

Jason took Austin to Grandpa's to ride his dirt bike. he rides wide open. It was quite dusty since we haven't had a lot of rain. But he had a blast.

Sunset

Just a chance to see the sunset. Remember live everyday like it is your last. And treat all you meet and know your best. We never know what tomorrow holds. We are only promised today.

Practice the Swing

Today we went o the driving range for Austin to have a chance to practice his swing. He will attend a golf clinic next week for three days. He is real excited about it. Also we went to the movie Get Smart. Really funny. Austin loved it. That was about it for today. Thanks for looking!

Snoozing the Day Away

Just to darn cute. Skidy and Canon being lazy. Always on the porch waiting for us to come home. Our furry welcoming committee.

Screaming for ICE CREAM

Got to love the ice cream. Just seems like the perfect way to end the day. We really gotta find a new hang out. lol

The "BIG" Catch

All in all we ended up with two bass. Austin's friend caught one and his dad caught the other. We had a good time. It is such a pretty pond on top of the mountain. Perfect friday afternoon. At least I didn't have to clean them. We'll leave that to the person who is going to eat them.

Must Catch the BASS

We did the usual for friday. Ran errands and had lunch with GramGram. Then some friends called and wanted to go fishing again. You know us we were off. Got to catch the one that got away. To funny. This is Austin and his friend Austin fishing together. They thought they could fish better if they were in the water. Sounds like a ploy to get wet...

6.19.2008

Two More

One 0f our new kittens. There is only two. This one we named Skidy because it is scared of its shadow.

Luv'n the Slide

They finally got the slide fixed at the pool. It seems to be everyone's favorite. We spent a few hours at the pool, then home to change, went and signed up for basketball camp, then off to vacation bible school. That was it for the day.

6.18.2008

Got to Catch the BIG One

After golf, club shopping, swimming, dinner, bible school, we decided to drop our lines in for a little bit. We didn't catch a thing. Austin had a big fish on his line, but it got off. And it took part of his lizard with it. We are going back tomorrow to try again. He is lurking in that pond somewhere and we'll keep fishing for him.

Golf CRAZY

Austin is really loving golf lessons. He is going to a three day clinic next week. Gram Gram decided to buy him his first set of clubs, as all the other kids taking lessons have their own clubs. He is so proud of them. THANKS Gram Gram!

Friends and Water=Fun

Of course we headed off to the pool this afternoon. That seems to be our daily thing since we bought a summer pass. And a lot of Austin's friends are usually at the pool also. He is a water bug!

6.17.2008

Slow Down and Enjoy the Little Things

After checking the garden Austin was off to catching fireflies. That was fun. Then Grandpa turned on the sprinklers and Austin had fun running in it in the dark with the dogs. Sorry to dark for photos, but the laughter was wonderful.

Enjoying the Outdoors

Today was the usual we went to the pool for a few hours, had dinner then Austin went to Bible school. After that I picked him up and we went to visit my parents and Austin found a dandelion and blew it on the way to the garden to check for veggies to pick. I love that I was able to catch the dandelion blowing apart.

"Better Gas Mileage?"

Jason and Austin spent the evening washing our cars. Maybe with a clean slick surface we can get better gas mileage. I paid $3.72 this evening. I have seen it as high as $4.19 in Asheville,NC. South Carolina has less taxes, so it is always cheaper there.

Mondays

We spent the morning around the house playing the WII and Austin had a race with his hotwheels. Around noon we headed up to Patton Pool in Hendersonville for a two hour swim. Mondays are our day to chill.

6.16.2008

On the Right Track

We went by the elementary school that has tracks nearby, I had seen some photos that were taken near some tracks and thought i would try it. They were ok as Austin wasn't in the mood for pictures. We'll try again sometime. But this one was neat.

6.15.2008

The Garden

He is growing strawberries, tomatoes, green peppers, squash, broccoli, and has blueberry bushes also. Austin loves to go over and hang with Grandpa. And hopes he lets him shoot the BB gun. Maybe next time.

Grandpa How Does Your garden grow?

After dinner we headed over to visit my dad for father's day. We went down to check out the status of the garden. Things are growing in well. we are going to have alot of tomatoes. I got this picture of Grandpa and Austin. And bugsy had to get in it too.

Lazy Days

Austin hung out with his dad all day. They were going to the drag strip, but it was closed today. So they spent the rest of the day watching movies and eating pizza. I went to the hospital and visited my friends daughter. She is still in pain and improving slowly. I admire her strength every time I watch her try to get in or out of bed. Even walking is difficult. Hard to believe how rapidly things can change. We are wishing her a speedy recovery.

A Blast to end the Evening

To end the evening I took Austin and Mireya to see the fireworks. they had a blast running and chasing each other in the field waiting for them to start. It was a great show. They were wore out. I like the picture of them watching the fireworks together. Thanks for checking out our blog!

Bowling on the WII

This Austin and Mireya they spent time this evening playing on the WII. Waiting to go to the fireworks. She is alot of fun to have around. And Austin is glad to have someone to play with. We hope Malena gets well real soon!

Saturday Happenings

Saturday was busy, Austin's friend Malena had to have emergency surgery on friday. So I offered to keep her little sister today to help my friend out. We went to the hospital to visit. Then to the "Fancy Smancy" McDonald's, and then off to a pool party for Austin's friend Bryan. Then we were off to watch the fireworks at the local BBQ festival. We love to do this every year.

"Seeing Green"-Friday the 13th

Austin stayed the night with a friend, we picked him up and we went to the movies with GramGram to see "The Incredible Hulk" which was quite good. I was surprised. After the movie we came home and had dinner then went bowling with friends.

6.13.2008

Worms, Poles, Pepsi, and only three Fish

Spending quality time with family and sunsets- priceless. It is fun to get out and enjoy everyday. Before you know it he will be grown and want to be around his friends all the time. Make memories while you can! They last forever!!

Glowing Night Crawlers

We bought green neon night crawlers. When you put them on the hook, they're guts are glowing green. Looks like they dug them up near a nuclear plant. Gotta love the camera strap in the photo. As this happens often...

Time to learn to be Still

Austin trying to be patient, waiting for a bite.

Teeny Tiny Frogs

Austin spent some time catching baby frogs in his ball cap. He was wanting to use them for bait. But I thought they were to small.

6.12.2008

"Gone Fishing"

Then after dinner we headed off to the pond to do some fishing. Not to much luck. I caught a 3 inch brim and my friends husband caught 2 catfish that were as he calls it "eating size".

Silly Lifeguards

My friends son Tommy is a lifeguard at the pool. He was trying to figure out how to wear these.lol

Gibson Pool-Local Watering Hole

We started off the morning chilling around the house. Then some friends stopped by and wanted Austin to head to the pool with them. So he went on and stayed for about 4 hours. Not sure what this dive is called, but he was having fun.

6.11.2008

Austin's Wildlife Report

This is Austin's view of our nature drive. He wanted to make a video on my camera. I am so proud of myself figuring out how to add video. Don't be still- move, see, and learn. I love keeping him busy. At his age he is like a sponge and learns new things everyday. This is going to be a fun filled summer. Thanks for looking!

Mom, you know I can drive....

After golf we ran some errands and headed to the pool for a few hours. Then home for dinner, when that was done we headed out for a nature drive looking for creatures. I let Austin steer on the dirt road he loves that. We seen 6 deer and 1 turkey. It is always fun looking for wildlife. You never know what you'll see.

Move over "Tiger"

We started out the day bright and early with a golf lesson. Austin has wanted to take lessons for a few months now and the summer seemed like a good time to try it. He loved it! Wow, sometimes they surprise us. This will be something we can do to fill in Wed. morning. In the picture he is riding in the golf cart headed out to practice.

Practice makes Perfect

Then we were off to the baseball field. Our season is over, but Polk Co. Little league is offering practice on tuesdays. I thought it would be a good way to get in more practice and get out of the house. Remember we can not be idle, always in motion! We also were able to see my friends daughter play two games. So all in all a great evening.. By the way Austin is the speck in red shorts. LOL (If you click on any of the photos it will enlarge them for better viewing)

"Violators will be split"

Then after swimming we headed to Scoops 'n More and had a ice cream. On the bottom of the sign it says "Violators will be split". Ice cream is addictive!!

NEED WATER- I might Dry Out

We went to the pool today. Austin passed the swim test, yea, always a big deal to all the kids. Now he can go off the diving board. He is always saying he might dry out if he doesn't swim everyday. Should of been an Aquarius.

6.10.2008

Mr. Cool

His eyes are so blue in this one. This is his pose. I will take some smiley ones soon. But this was typical Austin trying to change it up some. He is growing up so fast. And maturing more daily. This will be an interesting summer, I am sure.

Austin-First day of Summer

As you know I am picture crazy. These are just a few more I took of Austin the other day. He is all about being cool and serious now. I think they are really good. He isn't in the picture mood to often. But lately he seems more willing.
