Just A Reminder

There are only five days left until my niece has her drawing for the WII. She is having raffle to raise money to send her husband Danny on a mission trip to Nicaragua. This is a creative idea to raise money and I sure hope she does well. I wanted to post about it one more time in case you missed the first post. It is such a blessing that he is willing to go there and help and tell people about Jesus.

Wow- Talk About Last Minute

This was a really tight game. All the quarters were super close. They played so hard. then in the last four seconds of the game we scored and won by 1 point. Talk about squeezing in a win. This one was by the skin of their teeth. I did not get any pictures since I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

WE WON!!

We won! They scored 59 points in this game and we are so excited about the win. Austin is in the black jersey on the far right. look at the size of the guy he is blocking. This kid must be eating his Wheaties. he usually scores a fair amount of points, but Austin was able to block him out. Awesome! Looking foward to our game on Monday night. Hopefully the guys can keep up the pace.

All Out Fun!!

Man what a awesome show. We went to the monster truck show this afternoon after our basketball game. It was a total blast. We try to go every year. And we were able to make it to the pit show for the last 30 minutes. That allows us to get close to the trucks, meet the drivers, and take some cool pictures. Fair warning you might need to turn your speakers down before you play the video.

I'm Gonna Miss This-Week 20

This week is easy. I already miss being around extended family. We went to visit some relatives in Tennessee and had a good time catching up. We already are missing them. The boys played so well together and it was nice to visit. Makes me think back to the days when we would all get together for the holidays. And there would be a lot of family catching up with each other. Now with several deaths in the family, it makes you look back and appreciate all the days we had together. I hope everyone takes time for reflection from time to time. It is important to remember we are only promised today.....

It's A Boy Thing

Austin with two of his cousins in Tennessee goofing around. They had a blast just hanging out around the house shooting hoops, playing video games, and chasing each other. Matthew always in tow keeping up with the big boys. We had a wonderful time and we are looking foward to going back.

A Tennessee Specialty

In Tennessee the special dinner for the evening was "Rat Pizza". We went to a cool pizza place and they fix your pizza the way you want it and then you take it home to bake it. The boys were able to sneak downstairs to add some extra "meat" to the dish. The dinner was great and kinda tasted like it had a hint of chicken. All odd meats tend to taste like chicken for some reason. Too funny!!

Wordless Wenesday

WE WON!!

We spent most of the day driving home from my neice's in Nashville,Tn. yesterday. It snowed most of the way, but the roads were clear. Then at the state line we had to stop and play in the snow for a few minutes. Back in the car to head home. Basketball game at 5:30 and needed to be at the gym by 5:00. We squeezed in at 4:50, in time for a quick run home to change and back up the street to the gym. It was a great game and we finally won again. Such a good feeling. I know the boys were elated. We had a great time visiting family. Now if I can just seem to get over the cold I caught from Austin. Along with turning another year older. Oh how the years just click by. But that is a whole other post.

A Hard Game

Well we had another loss. But in our minds it was an awesome game. The team we played was one of the best we will be up against. And they only beat us by 7 points. We played really well. And the boys ran the plays and were all over them. We play again Tuesday evening. So we are looking forward to a win. We are also in Tennessee hanging with some family. And plan to head home on Tuesday morning. Austin is having a blast hanging with his cousins and chilling out. They are busy playing the PS3 now. But we will soon be getting some needed sleep.....

Gonna Miss This- Week 19

I must say that after being home with a sick child the thing I will miss is the days we can stay home in our PJ's and chill out together watching movies and all plans are off for the day. Or we can just load up in the car and ride around on back roads just to check out the sites. I think all of our time together will be reflected upon later in life. And I truly believe that our conversations will be a learning experience for my son. I feel blessed that I have a son that will so far talk to me about anything. And ask all sorts of questions. We all have our moments when we wish they would quit talking for five minutes. But later in our silence we will long for the chatter and long talks. These post always get me thinking of how fast time is flying by....

Wish Us Luck!

We have a game in the morning at 11 am. We are playing one of the toughest teams. But we did look good in practice on Thursday. I hope the boys can pull off a win. they sure could use it. When I think of the match up I think of "David and Goliath". But you never know on any given day. Tonight we went to the movies with GramGram to see Hotel for Dogs. It is a really cute movie. We all enjoyed it. My mom paid my way in for my birthday. Thanks Mom. Then we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. Where I had a great chocolate cake for desert. Tomorrow after the game we leave for Tennessee for a few days to visit relatives. Austin is so excited. He loves to travel. And is all about family. Catch ya later...

Loss # 3

Man they played so hard! We were down by 10 and they were coming back. Just not enough time. But I must say they played their hearts out. And it's all a learning experience. So now we have practice on Thursday and another game on Saturday. We just need to keep up the hard work.

Loss # 2

We were up Saturday morning bright and early for a basketball game at 8:45 am. We had all of our players, but one. I must say they played an awesome game again and we only lost by one point. One of point guards had a shirt on from last year and they would not let him play since the numbers has a slight difference to them. We sure could of used him to help run the plays. But rules are rules. But I must say I am really disappointed in our Polk County Rec. Dept. Because if you fault one team and make a kid sit out then you should hold the same judgment on all the teams. And two games after ours someone was playing with a different shirt and they knew about it and nothing was done. If your going to run the department then you should be fair across the board. That is only fair! I guess nothing can be done now, but I had to get that off my chest. Here is a picture of Austin in the game. And as you can tell I am terrible at getting good action shots. Along with forgetting to take pictures for trying to watch the game.

New Blog Design

Hey how do ya all like my new blog design. I love snowmen and have them all around the house. So I asked my niece to help me come up with a design. I love it! She did such a wonderful job. If you are interested check her out here http://tabbyscrapdesigns.blogspot.com/ She is super creative and can help you design a gorgeous blog with your personal touches to express your personalty. Don't snowmen just melt your heart. Now if we could just get some snow..... We could build one.

Your Gonna Miss This-week 18

Wow, what to post about this week. I am thinking that I will miss picking my son up from school daily. And the excitement he has about telling me about his day and all his friends. I know there will come a day when he does not talk about that to much. It seems like the older they get the more they keep to themselves. I love how open he is and how he likes to elaborate on everything. I find his outlook on things quite interesting and amusing. I am sure someday we look back and just stop and think where did the time go. Until then we can enjoy every moment...

The Sky is Falling

Yesterday my friend called to tell me that she was driving back from school and a tree limb fell and crushed her windshield. On the drivers side the glass just shattered, but stayed in tack. On the passengers side the limb went strait through all the way to the floor. Thank goodness her daughter had decided to ride with a friend. We have had so much rain the trees are saturated and then when you add in the wind then the limbs fall from the weight. There were also a lot of people without power around our area. Here are a couple of pictures of her van. I am just so thankful she was not injured.

Wenesday Happenings

Howdy! Well yesterday we didn't have any sports activities. Golf was canceled due to the 3 1/2 inches of rain we received. So we came home and just chilled out and worked on homework. And of course we had to catch the UNC Tarheels basketball game. And you know they won. Yippee.. I also went out to return some Christmas gifts that needed to be exchanged. The stores are super strict on returns this year. But we got everything taken care of. And the sun it out today with blue skies. I am so excited. We have had a lot of rain and gray skies for a while. And I was growing tired of it. I know we need the rain, but not all at once.

Oh No Not a Loss!

We had a basketball game last night. It was our first loss. But the boys played a really great game. Two of our players were out of town. So we were lacking a little from that. So now we are 2-1. We have another game on Saturday morning. Austin is on the bottom of the block in #21. My favorite number. He also got a new haircut yesterday. Remember the "Bad Hair Day" post when the barber shaved his head? Well guess what, he likes it and now thinks it is cool. So he now has hair so short again you can see his scalp. Too funny! You never know with boys. Have a great day and thanks for checking in... Erin

Finally, He Has a Red Ryder

Well I have been on the fence about Austin getting a bb gun. Last year I bought him an Airsoft gun with plastic bb's to avoid having to buy him a real bb gun. Since I have vivid memories of being shot by my older brother. So Austin decided to save his own money for one. Since he has a friend who has one and they have been target shooting lately. While we were deciding which one to buy, I called my dad for advice and he decided to give Austin a vintage Red Ryder that he had. Austin is so proud. We went over to his friends today and his dad took them squirll hunting. He shot at a few, but no kill. Thank goodness! GramGram would have a fit if she thought he was hurting an animal. But all in all he so excited and proud of his new bb gun. Here is a picture of him taking aim.

I'm Gonna Miss This-Week 17

It is friday and I am going to post this on time. I am trying to keep up. As I said before the days seem to run together when we do not have a set plan. I must say the thing that comes to my mind the most is we will miss just hanging out with friends and not worrying about the time or where we are going. This past week we have just been hanging out with friends and not to much else. Austin has had a blast. He and his friends collected wood for hours for my friend who has a woodstove. They used sleds to pull the wood to the front door. Then on another day he spent it just hanging out and drawing and shooting pool. They seem to have so much fun just chilling out. And we can not forget driving the golf cart all over the yard. I am sure we will miss these times when we have a slowed schedule and can just relax with friends.

Happy New Year!

Happy new year to all our friends and family. We spent today visiting and hanging out with friends. That is what the holidays are for to catch up and spend time with the ones we love. Happy 2009!
